Writing Engaging Content

content marketing

Staring at a blank page and wishing that engaging content would appear on it, often happens when the pressure is on to come up with new content for a blog post. However wishing for content to appear most likely won’t yield the results you need!  We’ve put together some helpful tips that will help you with solving this issue and hopefully will assist you in creating useful, engaging content that your site visitors will want to read.

1. Plan Your Content

Planning your content in advance is one of the easiest ways to ensure that you know what you’re going to write about. You need to create a schedule of what you want to say to your audience and how you’re going to deliver that message. Creating a plan and sticking to it will allow your content to be more focused and most likely it will achieve better results for you

2.  What Do Your Customers Want To Know?

Check your previous blog posts and articles and see which ones have been the most popular, what type of posts got the most traffic or shares on social media? Is there a particular type of post or topic that’s popular with your readers, i.e. advice / how to articles etc. Offer value to your readers, give them something new but relevant to your industry.

3.  What’s Happening In Your Industry?

Are there aspects of your business services or products that you haven’t already covered before in your posts?   Maybe you have a new line of stock or there are new innovations in your industry, something newsworthy that your readers would be interested in. Perhaps there are videos or podcasts that you can tie in with an article, even if you haven’t created the video or podcast yourself, it might be something that will interest your readers and that you can write about. Look out for up and coming changes in your industry and how they might impact your readers, how can they plan for these changes, what do they need to know now and later?

4.  What Is Your Perfect Customer Persona?

If you are still struggling with creating content, put yourself in your readers’ shoes and write about what your top customers would want to know, answer the questions that they might ask.

5.  Can You Tell A Story?

Using a storytelling approach will resonate with a lot of your readers and make it easier for them to recall the content of your post, weave facts and important information into the story to get your message across.

6.  What Are Your Competitor’s Taking About?

Check out your competitor’s blog posts, what are they writing about? Keep up to date with your industry and be the first to inform your readers of top trends.

The most important part of writing engaging content is to create appealing and powerful content that will keep your readers coming back for more, content that they will share and that other bloggers and website owners will want their visitors to read, thus creating lots of back-links back to your site, increasing your visibility in the search engines, resulting in increased traffic to your website.
